i heart {Cath Kidston}

When I think of iconic English floral patterns, Cath Kidston comes to mind. This lovely British designer has been bringing her vintage-style loveliness to homes in Britain for the past decade, and her goods are now available in Australia. I absolutely adore the wide range of homewares, bags, accessories and children's products.

Cath Kidston‘s playful line truly represents the shabby chic trend, which I happen to be so passionate about. Kidston’s designs have always paid respect to the flower, but the transformations are always delightfully different from one to the next– and Cath Kidston’s prints are no exception.

I, personally, am gaga for her darling accessories {picture perfect for any purse or iphone cover}. Oh just imagine having a bedroom covered in any of these divine prints - it would be like walking through a colourful English garden. Swoon!

vintage chic high tea

{vintage chic dessert table}

Today's vintage tea party has captured my heart and I am so excited to share the beauty of it's tailored simplicity with you all. Brace yourselves ladies, this delightful feature is vintage perfection at its finest.

This gorgeous vintage high tea has been styled and captured by Niki from Candy Soirees. Niki and I worked on this project collaboratively and wanted to create the perfect birthday party for little Sienna. We were aiming for a look that is eclectic blend of girly and vintage chic with a touch of whimsy. We chose the colour palette of vintage pink, dove grey and pale lemon which tied in perfectly with my current collection of {vintage chic} party printables. It’s the perfect palette for vintage meets shabby chic. Stylistically, we both have a thorough appreciation of shape and colour and we both share a passion for vintage style.

The set up was held in a country garden, the space was transformed into a beautiful enchanted pink and dove grey world, because no high tea party is complete without doilies, lace and sweet candy. I would like to highlight the details of this "high tea" birthday. We had acquired some beautiful vintage china from a dear friend. We used it and supplemented with the rest of the vintage pieces and every prop used had the similar look and feel. We decided to use a baroque mirror tray as the centrepiece of the dessert table is full of fabulous sweet macarons, mini lemon meringues, ferrero rocher cupcakes and a selection of sweet candy.

{divine strawberry macarons & mini lemon meringues}

{delicious ferrero rocher cupcakes & vintage chic cupcake toppers}

{divine cake}
{pink smarties, lolly jar lables and silver doily}

{milk bottles featuring grey straws and bottle labels}
{party hats}
{delicious chocolate bars}

{gorgeous peonies and high tea inspired cake}

Niki did lots of crafting projects including the gorgeous paper doily pinwheels, they are so easy to make but so effective and add a whimsical touch to any affair. I can’t go past and not mention how much i love the table & floral arrangements, the peonies completed the look we are aiming for. As for the backdrop, Niki used a mix of vintage lace, strands of crystals, doily pinwheels and crystal glass balls filled with white feathers to compliment the rest of the theme. It has been such a delight working with Niki on this project and we are so thrilled with the outcome. I would like to thank the lovely Courtney from {Pizzazzerie} and Kara from {Kara's Party Ideas} for featuring our party. Also would like to thank all the wonderful people who kindly shared our {Vitange Chic} tea party, we truly appreciate your lovely comments and Niki and I would like to thank you for your amazing support and wish you all a very merry christmas filled with love and joy. Enjoy xx

Tell us a little about YOU, the woman behind “Fairydust Stylish Stationery”?
I am a 37 year old Mother to 3 children, Chloe 10, Sophia, 6 and Jesse 1. I have a love of design and all things beautiful. I spent the formative years of my career working as a Print Production Manager & Studio Manager in advertising agencies /design houses in Adelaide, Sydney & Melbourne. I am married to a very patient man who is a Senior Valuer and Auctioneer.

Fairydust Stylish Stationery was launched five years ago and began as a humble market stall in Melbourne offering artworks, invitations and jewellery. We have experienced wonderful growth during 2011 and look forward to expanding our ranges even further in 2011. There will be a heavy focus on home decor, particularly children's bedrooms.

What was your inspiration for starting your own business & who/what inspires your work?
The West Gate Bridge was my inspiration for starting my own business. I spent more time stuck in traffic on the that bridge than I did with my own children. I decided to launch my own little venture, and so far so good!
My work and work ethic has been inspired by some wonderfully talented people I have had the privilege of working with throughout my career. A special thank you to Steve & Karen Lewis of the The Bureau (Adelaide), my first introduction to the graphic arts industry, a fabulous couple with a thriving and evolving business.

What is the most satisfying part of what you do?

Definitely dealing with our lovely customers, who come back to us time and time again.I have worked with some gorgeous customers and their families, it has been a pleasure. Although challenging, I have also enjoyed working from my at home studio, I am able to drop off and pick up my daughters from school and have little Jesse home with me.

What was the most rewarding thing that has happened in your career so far?
It hasn't quite happened , but we are very close. We have some major developments for Fairydust on the horizon that I hope to be able to share in detail soon. I will also be super excited to see the launch of our new website......some gorgeous animiation on the way!

Name the top 3 favourite designs from your own collection?
Pink & Red Robin Christmas (printable)
Forest Friends
Shipwreck Cove

Can you tell us your favourite handmade item you have brought recently?
I was at a market on Sunday and ordered a handmade denim backpack for my little man from the lovely Kelly of Schnookie.

Do you have a favourite colour palette that you absolutely love?
That's an easy and even predictable question for me........pink & red!

What is your favourite girl and boy party theme at the moment?
I love a vintage tea party for girls, so many beautiful and unique options can be used.
For boys I love the super hero theme, the colour pallet is a little challenging, but the boys love running around in their capes, they have the best time.

Where will you be celebrating Christmas this year?
At my Mother's house, it has been 5 long years since we have celebrated Christmas at my Mum's. I am very much looking forward to a family Christmas, oh and some of Mum's cooking too, she's a much better cook than me!

What is your favourite place in the world?
Quite simply my favourite place is where my friends and family are, I have been blessed with the most wonderful people in my world.

elegant, timeless, sophisticated...Jane and Jonny's wedding day

Brace yourself ladies and gents because this wedding will knock your socks off. It’s the perfect combination of modern and classic with a touch of vintage. {Jane & Jonny} incorporating modern and vintage elements which transformed their reception at Wylies Baths, Coogee Beach into a spectacular spot to celebrate their special day.

It’s easy to get carried away when thinking of the perfect colour palette and I can’t get enough of this dreamy, soft palette of timeless neutral tones, its overflowing with style and romance. The gorgeous details don’t stop there. The flower arrangements were organized by miss Emily and myself. We organized the gorgeous vintage glass centerpieces, decorated with amazing {ivory david austin roses} and finished off with divine twine…little masterpieces of love. We also decorated the white napkins by layering, white lace doilies, black placecards, wrapped with divine twine and finished off using natural colour peg to hold everything together. Jane organized the beautiful natural canvases printed with {live, love, laugh} which tied in perfectly with the rest of the theme. The amazingly delicious cupcake tower was made by Catherine from {2 Bites}.

Jane and Jonny looked absolutely stunning on the day, Jane's beautiful dress was designed by {Baccini &Hill}, i absolutely love everything, from hair, make up and cant go past that beautiful pearly white smile! I can’t decide if am more obsessed about the flower arrangements, the amazing cupcake tower {reads: live, love, laugh} or the vintage “mr and mrs” banner which was beautifully displayed behind {Jane and Jonny’s} chairs. They make such a beautiful couple; you might want to devour these stunning images for yourself. It was such an honor to be able to help Jane create the wedding of her dreams. Enjoy xx
