Sew n Love

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, but I’d like to think that we need to show more love and affection than just once a year. There are so many different ways to express feelings of love on Valentine’s Day, some are sweet, some sentimental and others pure festive. I have to admit, I am completely smitten with today’s Valentine’s Day submission from the lovely Larissa of Sweet on Parties.  This charming Vintage “Sew n Love” Dessert Table is executed beautifully. What I love the most about this dessert table was the inspiration behind the shoot.

Larissa said: This Valentine’s Day Dessert table was inspired by my grandmother's wooden sewing box which l found hidden away in the back of my closet! I thought it would be ideal to display desserts in so l started to think of a table that could incorporate my passion for baking and my grandmothers passion for sewing and cross stitch and came up with Sew N Love.  I loved the idea of creating a table with a shabby chic feel and thought a quilt backdrop would be ideal for this theme.  I used a canvas and various patterned papers in floral, chevron, tartan and dot print along with paper rosettes and doilies to complete this Sew Sweet backdrop.  I wanted this table to be feminine but with a masculine edge so l used shades of brown, red, pink and green.

I made all of the desserts which included Caramel Kisses, Choc Fudge Cake Pops, Triple Chocolate Cake, Vanilla Bean Cookies, Vanilla Cupcakes, Raspberry Melting Moments and Salty Sweet Caramels as well as buying some sugar heart candy and chocolate bars wrapped in Sew n Love wrappers.  I continued with the Sewing theme and used embossing mats to create fondant toppers to resemble material and adorned these with handmade material rosettes and shimmer fondant buttons and pearls. I also made up some lovely favours to take home which were "Fill my heart with love" pin cushions in a red and green spotted felt along with the pattern, needle, thread and stuffing.

I am Sew n Love with this table and l hope you love it too! xx

Pink & Vintage White Christening

What a lovely way to start the New Year! Today, i had the pleasure of styling a dessert table for a little princess and let me tell you, everything look absolutely perfect! The Christening was held at the St. George Sailing Club and the waterfront views created the most magnificent backdrop. The theme of the christening was elegance and glamour and me as a stylist portrayed this through the choice of soft pink and vintage white palette, soft flowers and use of lace.

From the beautifully handcrafted lace cookies, elegant lace cake, divine rose pink cupcakes, every detail tied in perfectly with the theme. Each child received a party bag with some delicious treats. For the bonbonnieres, I used mini apothecary jars which I purchased via Sweet Style and I filled them up with cookies and embellished them with personalized scalloped tag and ribbon.

Luscious Wedding by Sweet Bloom Cakes

I am the girliest of girls and when it comes to weddings, I’m all about the ruffles, lace, pretty floral arrangements and amazingly styled dessert tables. Having said that, Dewi of Sweet Bloom Cakes never seems to disappoint with her impeccable style!  I would like to thank Dewi for giving me the opportunity to share this amazing wedding, infused with sweetness and style into every detail.

The wedding was held on the 30th December 2011 at the Berowra Water Inn and I had the pleasure of designing the printables for this gorgeous event. All of the flowers coordinated with the colour palette of red, antique white and teal. As Dewi described, every single detail was truly a labour of love filled to the brim with vintage details and hand crafted style. Enjoy xx

Our Camping Adventure...

{Mimosa Rocks National Park}

Firstly, i would like to wish you a Happy New Year; i hope you all had a fabulous time with your family and friends! Despite having never successfully followed through on a New Year’s resolution, yet each year I set myself a goal that drives me into the next 365 days. This year I have few “realistic” lifestyle goals which I would like to follow…work less, sleep more…eat less, drink more…worry less, enjoy life…and last one “do more of what makes me happy”!

The last few days have been exactly that! Camping is definitely not my forte but I must say that my hubby proved me wrong! The past 4 days have been so relaxing, I have entirely enjoyed spending quality time with my boys, building sand castles, going fishing, soaking up the sun, sitting by the fire and eating marshmallows, playing cards and catching up on some long needed beauty sleep…total bliss! Each morning we were woken up by the sound of the ocean waves, followed by a delicious breakfast and loads of fun activities.  There was no reception at the camping site so not being able to check my emails and update my status on facebook was exactly what I needed! Each night we sat by the campfire, while our dinner was cooking and we were surrounded by the beautiful wallabies. Aniken was beside himself! He kept saying “mama, look at the kangaroo’s” J bless!

What I loved the most is watching my boys go fishing while I was sitting with my feet up, soaking up the sun and reading my favourite magazines. Aniken was ecstatic when he caught his fist fish with his own fishing rod. The look on his face was priceless! Spending the time away with my family, made me think, how did I end up with the most amazing son and hubby in the whole world? They are both the greatest blessings in my life! xx
