Aniken's 3rd Pantone Art Birthday Party

We had an amazing day celebrating the 3rd birthday of my sweet little boy Aniken. When I asked Aniken what colours he would like for his birthday he answered: All the colour of the rainbow! With that in mind we decided to have a pantone art inspired party. I purchased some lovely Jansen and Co colourful cake stands few months ago and they worked perfectly for Aniken’s party. I kept the backdrop white as i wanted the colours to pop! Bianca of Blush Loves Mint made the beautiful tassel garland and two toned paper lanterns in the shades of lemon, mint and grey.

Dewi of Sweet Bloom Cakes made the delicious rainbow sponge cake covered with the smoothest ombre butter cream (absolute perfection)! Sweet treats included, neon macarons in the shades of yellow, red and blue, rainbow cake in a jar, ombre and art palette cookies, colourful cupcakes and scrumptious cake pops. I also purchased some cute paint tins from the Little Big Company, which were filled with different colour candy and embellished with a paper paint brush. One of my favourite items were the adorable confetti watercolour treat bags by Poppies for Grace. I displayed each of the sweets labels on mini easels, adorned with little paint brushes.

I was so glad that we hired the children's tables, chairs and toys from Tiny Tots Toy Hire and they were delivered right to our door. The children had an amazing time climbing, riding and sliding. Kate of Kat Cvet Photography captured the whole party magnificently.  She helped me bring to life the vision that I had of styling the perfect dessert table for Aniken's party. Last but not least, i was glad that Aniken had a fabulous time with his friends and family and i enjoyed watching him paint, play and eat the scrumptious cake. :) xx

Announcement: MLJ has a new name!

{photography by Tindale Images

Good evening lovelies, this post is well overdue as I have been planning to re-brand my little business for quite some time. I must admit choosing the new name was the hardest, I didn’t want to pick a name that is related to anything specific and I would like to keep my options open as we have few exciting projects lined up for 2013 and I cant wait to tell you more about them. I have been thinking of re-branding for the past 12 months, although I have a soft spot for My Little Jedi (as the business name was inspired by my son Aniken)  the name doesn’t reflect what I do so having a new name I believe it will breathe new life into my business.

Coming from a marketing/brand management background, I know how challenging it is to go thorough re-branding. To ensure a smooth transition, I have decided to re-brand MLJ magazine first so all of our fans take the time to get use to our new name and few months later we will roll out the new name completely. I have done a lot of research on my new direction, new logo and new look and feel. After much research I have decided the right person to help me with the re-branding is the lovely Tabitha from Tabitha and Emma and I cant wait to show you our new look.

All I can say at this stage is that we will launch the Christmas edition of MLJ magazine with the new name so you will have to wait for few more weeks. I would like to thank all of our fabulous fans and supporters which have been on our journey for the past 2.5 years. MLJ has grown and developed into a full time business that is much loved by many of our clients and facebook fans and I hope you will continue to support us once we launch the new name.

Thank you.

xx

Neon Baby Shower

It's no secret that I am obsessed with neon and some of you may think that this trend is difficult to pull it off and I must admit that Mariana of Yum Eventos (Argentina) has done a fabulous job with this neon inspired baby shower.

Mariana says: I wanted to share this baby shower I put together for a very intimate get together for a glowing mommy to be with this fashion forward and trendy NEON party. Fun fluorescence! Mixed with bold brights, CHEVRON pattern, saturated STRIPES and washi tape details. I styled it together with bright whites and contrasting neutral beige so that the colors would pop even more. As well as Neon washi tape accents to coordinate with the graphic decor from La Feliz Celebrations.

The dessert table included sparkling water (H2oh baby).  Mini glasses with striped straws and coordinating flags. Triangle shaped brownies to go with the chevron pattern on the invites.  Delicious lemon cupcakes with meringue topping.  Dulce de Leche Alfajores, a typical Argentinian tasty treat.  The backdrop was created with a neon string heart, tassels in neon, brown and a bright turquoise.  All put together with a neutral background (very simple kraft paper! total DIY).

Favors: Wrapped in mini clear glassine bags with a coordinating printable tag was a tassel jewelry piece that could be used as a bracelet or a cute accent necklace served as the favors for the party and were arranged as part of the table setting.

What's in my bag

As you all know, women tend to put a lot of things in their bags and I am no different, however recently I decided to become little more organized so I can easily find my mobile and car keys (as they always get lost in my bag) so now I only carry what I really need and use daily. I was very excited when Helen from Little by Little asked me to be a guest on her blog and show “what’s in my bag” because I have never done this before and I thought it would be fun to share what it is exactly that I’m lugging around every day. xo

What’s in my bag:

1.       Diary – Call me old fashioned but I still like to put pan to paper. Working as an event stylist takes a lot of planning and follow up so I have this planner with me at all times to keep me organized.
2.       Mor hand cream – During winter my hands get dry from the wind and this lovely cream works a treat
3.       USB – you never know when you will need one so I always keep one in my handbag
4.       Chanel lipstick – I use to be a lip gloss girl but i have recently switched back to lipsticks and I have never looked back. I love the beautiful Chanel rouge coco lip stick shades
5.       Nivea tinted moisturiser - I usually don’t keep a lot of makeup in my bag other than moisturiser and lipstick for quick touch ups.
6.       Nivea facial cleansing wipes – you can never have enough of these wipes!
7.       Nail grooming kit
8.       Iphone – I LOVE my iphone, it goes everywhere with me. I can't imagine life without my email and all of the extremely useful apps.
9.       Listerine mint floss
10.   Kate Spade wallet – I love big wallets as I always keep all my cards and important documents with me.
11.   Mini ipod  - I like to listen to music when I go for a run
12.   Ray Ban wayfarer – my favourite shades!
13.   Kate Spade bag – I have been a fan of Kate Spade for a while and I adore her style. My latest purchase is the gorgeous gold and natural handbag, it’s the perfect size for everyday wear
